Cancer Season Monthly Forecast
Sun, Mercury and Venus in Cancer, two full moons in Capricorn, Saturn stations retrograde, new moon in Cancer, Mars in Taurus then Gemini, Mercury and Venus to Leo.
Hello and happy first day of Cancer season! The Sun officially moves into Cancer right at 5pm EST this evening. Thank you to everyone for your patience while I was away for my wedding and honeymoon - I am now getting back on track with new content. With Cancer season beginning, you will be getting the chance to slow down a bit over the coming month, especially after the flurry of activity all of the Gemini transits carried. First, let’s go over the main astrological events taking place this Cancer season, before I then get into what these transits mean for each rising sign.
The main underlying transit this month is that the Sun is moving through the sign of Cancer from June 20 - July 22. The Sun is joining Mercury and Venus already in this sign, so there’s a lot of Cancerian energy over the next couple of weeks. You may feel more connected to family, or you could be a bit emotional or nostalgic for childhood and the past. Even if you don’t have a great relationship with family, you may still be prioritizing your closest friends who feel like family, or maybe you’re making repairs and improvements to your home. This is definitely a bit more introverted time of year, where you could be very much in your feelings.
What’s so notable about this Cancer season is that there will be two full moons in Capricorn! The first Capricorn full moon will take place on June 21 at 1 degree of Capricorn. The second Capricorn full moon will take place on July 21 at 29 degrees of Capricorn. So there will be increased activity and significant developments taking place in the Capricorn ruled part of your chart. You will get two chances to come full circle with the activities and themes there. The first full moon may feel more active, like you’re ready to start something new or you have a lot of energy to put towards something, while the second full moon may be a bit more intense, as it is happening only a degree away from Pluto at 0 degrees of Aquarius. So closer to the end of Cancer season, you may be doing some internal transformation, or you could be emotional about something or someone you need to release from your life.
Also, the ruling planet of these two full moons, Saturn, is still in Pisces, not currently making any major aspects to other planets. Saturn will station retrograde on June 29 though, so you may start to feel a bigger emphasis on making changes and taking stock of your commitments in that Pisces ruled house of your chart. These two full moons may weave together the themes of both the Capricorn ruled house of your chart and the Pisces ruled house.
On July 2, Mercury moves into Leo, followed by Venus on July 11. So as we move further into July, we’re shifting out of this super Cancerian energy into the fun and playful spirit of Leo. With Mercury and Venus both changing signs, you may have creative ideas or positive opportunities coming to you in the Leo ruled house of your chart. You might be extra attentive to your personal aesthetic too, and you could be reflecting on your style, your hair, or your overall image. This middle point in July would also be good for dating or branching out to socialize with new people again.
To back things up a bit though, July 5 brings a new moon in Cancer, which is taking place at 14 degrees of this sign. This new moon will further emphasize the themes of home, family, nostalgia, or wanting to keep to yourself for a few days. The days that immediately follow the new moon would be the best time to start or launch any new projects, relationships, habits, etc. In addition, the new moon will make a loose trine with Saturn in Pisces, which gives longevity or a greater commitment to whatever you initiate around this time.
Mars is still in Taurus for pretty much all of Cancer season. On July 5, Mars will sextile Saturn in Pisces, and then on July 15 it will conjunct Uranus in Taurus. These could be key dates in seeing developments or getting news back in the Taurus ruled house of your chart. If it feels like you’ve been slowly working away at something patiently, it could feel like activity is picking up a bit.
Finally, we wrap up the month with Mars moving into Gemini on July 20. Whereas, we kick off Cancer season with strong earth and water energy, as it comes to a close we will see a shift to air and fire energy again, with Mercury and Venus in Leo and Mars now entering Gemini. Having Mars in Gemini will be great for either creating or making significant progress on everyday, communication based work. Think like having ideas for social media content, a newsletter, podcast, or presentations for your job. It could feel like your mind is pulled in a million different directions at once, and there might be several topics you want to learn about.
Let’s now get into what all of these transit mean for your specific rising sign…
