Libra Season Monthly Forecast
Sun & Mercury in Libra, Venus in Scorpio, Solar eclipse in Libra squaring Mars in Cancer, Jupiter retrograde in Gemini, full moon in Aries conjunct Chiron, Mercury to Scorpio, Venus to Sagittarius
Happy first day of Libra season!
Like usual, we will first be going over all of the significant transits taking place this month before I get into what they all mean for each rising sign.
The sun is moving through Libra for the next four weeks, from September 22 - October 22. Libra is a very partnership oriented air sign, and it has to do with one-on-one interactions and sharing ideas with people. So headed into the next month you may be more focused on collaborating and compromising with people. You could be working on your communication skills within relationships, especially when Mercury joins the Sun in this sign on September 26. If you’re single, you may be more open to dating, or you could simply be enjoying quality time with friends. I also think of Libra in terms of culture, art, and style. So this may be a month where you’re doing more shopping or decorating, or you’re reflecting on your personal image and aesthetic. You may take an interest in doing day trips or attending cultural offerings nearby. As much as I wish I could say that this Libra season will be completely calm, balanced, and peaceful though, we have another eclipse on the way. More on that below.
Also happening on September 22 will be Venus moving out of Libra into Scorpio, where it will remain until October 17. Scorpio is not a sign in which Venus functions well - this is the sign of its detriment. Themes like power dynamics with people or trying to control or fixate too much in a relationship may be themes that come up. On a more positive note, this can be a great transit for improving upon your relationship patterns and your overall mindset towards dating and friendship. You will want to heal and transform whatever isn’t working for you there anymore.
The first lunation of the month will be a solar eclipse in Libra, happening on October 2. It will be taking place at 10 degrees of this sign, so anyone with planets or angles right around that degree marker (give or take 3 degrees on each side) will feel the impact of the eclipse the most. However, everyone will still experience the eclipse happening in the Libra ruled house of their charts. This is the final Libra eclipse we will have. There have been three in total over the last year - a solar eclipse in October 2023, a lunar eclipse in March 2024, and now a solar eclipse in October 2024. So you can think of this eclipse as serving as a final push to grow and make changes in the Libra ruled house of your chart.
This eclipse is also happening in a close conjunction with Mercury, which will be at 11 degrees of Libra. So in the couple days leading up to the eclipse, as well as the actual day of the eclipse, we will have a Sun-Mercury cazimi. You may have numerous ideas come to you around that time, or you could be especially busy with communication based tasks or being in contact with people. The last Sun-Mercury cazimi took place during Mercury retrograde in August, so you can think of this one now as the “full moon” phase of Mercury. This is a time for bringing ideas and projects related to writing and speaking to fruition.
Other notes on the eclipse - it’s aligned with the South Node, so there may also be a theme of release, working past patterns holding you back or moving past your comfort zone. The eclipse is also very close to a square with Mars in Cancer, which is not great. Therefore, tension, aggression, or strong emotional reactions could surface too. And the ruler of the eclipse, Venus, is in the sign of its detriment, so it’s not really helping out at all. So even though a solar eclipse represents a new beginning that will unfold over the next six months, you may feel a bit on edge or there may be an ending or a difficult release that has to happen before you can move ahead.
Speaking of Mars, Mars moved into Cancer in early September and will continue to move through this sign for the entirety of Libra season. So carrying into this month, you still have the theme of putting energy into home, family, or looking at emotions surrounding childhood and the past. You will continue to strengthen your intuition too, and you may need extra time to rest or contemplate something before making a decision and acting on it.
A transit that may help to counteract difficulties brought up by the eclipse will be a grand water sign trine happening between Venus in Scorpio, Mars in Cancer, and Saturn in Pisces throughout the whole first week of October. So use that week to really lean into a spiritual or creative practice. You won’t want to push yourself as hard, and you may want to do some quiet introspection.
On October 9, Jupiter will station retrograde at 21 degrees of Gemini. Its retrograde will last until February 4, 2025. Jupiter has been in the sign of Gemini since late May of this year, so now that it's slowing down for several months, you may find yourself reflecting more on that Gemini ruled house in your chart. How can you continue to grow there? What activities associated with that house do you want to pursue further? By February, you’ll be ready to move forward there again with greater momentum.
Several days later, Mercury moves into Scorpio on October 13 until November 2. Just as Venus is about to depart this sign, Mercury moves in to keep the Scorpio energy going. This Mercury transit may have you more interested in topics related to mental health, human behavior, and psychology. You could also be doing intensive research on a specific subject, or you may be having conversations with people where you talk about deeper topics and open up to each other.
The next lunation of Libra season will be a full moon in Aries happening on October 17 at 24 degrees of this sign. Mid-October is when you’ll see the most activity take place this month, and you could have a desire to speak up and be more assertive. However, this is a trickier moon, because it will be closely aligned with Chiron in Aries, and again squaring Mars in Cancer. In the days leading up to this full moon, you may feel an inner tension or impatience building. There may also be insecurities or fears you need to deal with so that these things don’t rule your life. There could be a strong desire to take action in an area of your life (houses ruled by Aries, Libra and Cancer especially). You may also notice that other people are more snappy with you, or you could be on the receiving end of their frustration. Try not to react impulsively at this time!
And finally, on October 17 Venus will move into Sagittarius for several weeks until November 11. So we get to close out Libra season on more of a fun note. You may be taking pleasure in traveling, learning, or connecting to your spiritual beliefs around this time. You could also be more open minded in relationships, or you’re connecting with people from different cultural backgrounds. Leaning into education and sharing your knowledge will also be important with this transit.
Okay, with all of that being said, let’s get into what all of these transits mean for each rising sign.
