An Intro to Annual Profections
Let's talk about what is quickly becoming one of my favorite prediction techniques.
Hello and happy Sunday!
Today we are going over annual profections, which is quickly becoming a prediction tool that I am using more and more frequently in my practice. Annual profections is an ancient astrological timing technique that equates one year of your life to one house in your chart. It’s especially useful in getting a general read on what themes might be relevant throughout a single year period for you.
Profections can answer questions like why the ages of 27 and 35 are generally regarded as more emotional years, where you’re looking within and prioritizing your mental health. It also explains why people often find more footing in their career in their early to mid 30s, and it can show how the ages of 24, 36, 48 and 60 are often pivotal turning points in a person’s life. Profections are one of the easiest predictive techniques to get started with, because learning it starts out so basic, but gradually you can add upon it to make it more complex. I will have to do a part two on this topic at some point, because I can’t fit all of what I want to share into one newsletter.
To first familiarize yourself with what profections even are, I want you to look at the diagram/illustration at the top of this newsletter. You can see how the chart is divided up into 12 houses like usual, but that there are rings around the whole chart with numbers in them. Each number is indicative of a specific age, and each age is tied to a particular house of your chart. You start with year 0 being a 1st house profection year, then when you turn 1, you switch to a 2nd house profection year, when you turn 2 you are in a 3rd house profection year, and so on and so forth. Because there are only 12 houses, every 12 years of your life the same annual profection year repeats.
You can break up your life into 12 year cycles in this way, noting themes at your current age that you may have been experiencing 12 years prior. For example, if you’re currently 37, you may notice parallels to the age of 25. Looking back at the diagram, you can see how both of those ages are a 2nd house profection year. Or if you’re 26, you may notice that it bears a resemblance to the age of 14. Both of those ages are a 3rd house profection year.
You can find your own profection chart here. You will want to refer back to it as we go through a step-by-step guide below of how to further interpret what each profection year will mean for you.
