Happy first day of Aries season!

We are starting off Aries season very much in the midst of retrogrades and eclipses, so you could still be experiencing some uncertainty or slowness in an area of your life. However, as we get further into April and reach the end of Aries season, you will start to have a much clearer picture of how to proceed, and there will be more momentum backing new projects, ideas, and relationships. Also, if we are to look at Aries season as a whole, the majority of the chaos is taking place in the last ten days or so of March, before it calms down a bit in April. So if you’re starting the next month off on a rocky or anxious note, remain patient and hopeful for what is to come later on.

Before we get into it, I wanted to note that this week marks the two year anniversary of this newsletter! I launched this newsletter on the day of a new moon in Aries: March 21, 2023 at 2:00pm EST. I have that time memorized, because I wanted to create a very specific birth chart for this newsletter. It has a Leo rising with a 9th house Aries Sun, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, and Midheaven, which is fitting, considering it serves the purpose of teaching astrology (very 9th house themed). Since March 2023, this community has grown to almost 18,000 subscribers, and I’m so happy that you are all here with me! Substack has given me a place to write regularly and challenge myself to come up with new topics to explore in depth several times a month, and I can’t believe I get paid to do this. So thank you for being here, thank you for continuing to support my work, and here’s to many more years of astrology newsletters!

Like usual, we will first be going over all of the major transits that make up Aries season before getting into what everything means for each individual rising sign. Think of this as your mini reading for the next month ahead that you can keep referring back to.

The main underlying transit for Aries season is that the Sun is moving through this sign from March 20 - April 19. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, so it has more of a youthful energy, like anything is possible and there is a strong desire to act now. Therefore, you may have new ideas that you want to develop, or you could be motivated to do more outreach or initiate different projects, partnerships, or habits for yourself. Aries tends to be an impatient sign though, but patience will be key this month, as there are two ongoing retrogrades that won’t lift for several more weeks.

Venus and Mercury retrogrades are both ongoing in the sign of Aries throughout the end of March. On Saturday, March 22 the Sun and Venus will meet up at 2 degrees of Aries, and then on Monday, March 24, the Sun and Mercury will meet up at 4 degrees of Aries. So these couple of dates will be important, because they mark the halfway points of each of these retrogrades, and you may be receiving helpful clarity or insight into the topics of the Aries ruled house of your chart. I also expect this couple day period to be a bit busier in terms of connecting with people, developing relationships, or tending to communication based work.

Then these same retrogrades begin to shift back into Pisces at the tail of March. Venus moves back into Pisces on March 27, and Mercury follows on March 29. Both Venus and Mercury will remain in Pisces until the end of their retrogrades - April 7 for Mercury and April 12 for Venus. So as we head into April, you may actually be revisiting themes that were prominent during Pisces season, and just as you thought you were done, further reflection or restructuring may need to be done in the Pisces ruled house of your chart. There could be a topic that has felt confusing for you there or a miscommunication or relationship issue that you need to address in this part of your life. These transits of Venus and Mercury will also be triggering the North Node and Saturn in Pisces too, bringing up bigger themes that have been ongoing in this area.

The last two days of March are action packed. First, a solar eclipse will occur in Aries on March 29, happening at 9 degrees of this sign. This is the final eclipse not only in Aries, but in the Aries/Libra eclipse cycle that has been ongoing since early 2023. Because this is the last of three Aries eclipses we’ve had since April 2023, it may serve as a final push to make a change or pivot in a new direction in the Aries ruled house of your chart. There could be a significant ending or beginning that is also taking place there for you. Eclipses bring up themes that will continue to linger for the next several months, so see how the topics associated with that Aries ruled house of your chart continue to go through changes and are a bigger deal over the coming weeks.

The ruling planet of this Aries eclipse is Mars, and Mars is still in Cancer, not a sign it thrives in, but at least it is no longer retrograde. So this eclipse may also tie in themes with the Cancer ruled house of your chart, or there may be a focus on home or family related activities, or you could be revisiting something from your past or childhood. Thankfully, Mars will be trining this stellium of planets in Pisces, so it will be offering support to the retrograde planets there. In addition, this eclipse will be sextile to Jupiter in Gemini, so this hopefully will give you a boost of positivity and may leave you feeling more energized and optimistic than you have been recently.

The following day, on March 30, Neptune enters Aries. Neptune has been in Pisces since 2012, so this is a huge deal that it’s changing signs. Neptune will be in Aries until October 2025, when it will return to Pisces for a few months, before entering Aries again in January 2026 until 2039. When outer planets like Neptune, Uranus or Pluto change signs after many years, it’s not only important to note in terms of your own chart but also what is unfolding in this moment of history. Neptune is a planet that idealizes things and overly romanticizes the themes of the sign and house it’s transiting. It also is a planet that blurs boundaries and throws a sense of confusion over situations. Everything is not completely what it seems under the influence of Neptune. Because this planet is so hard to grasp in a concrete way, it becomes challenging to understand what its transit represents when you’re living through it. You may not fully realize how Neptune changed you or an area of your life until the transit is finally over. With Neptune in Aries for the next decade and a half, this planet will throw confusion, uncertainty, or serve to romanticize Aries themes like leadership, what motivates you, individuality, or at its worst violence and war. When looking at this transit in terms of your own chart, as it enters this Aries ruled house for the next several years, you may be dissolving long held mindsets you’ve had in that part of your life, or you could be developing a more compassionate or spiritual outlook with those house themes. However, situations may come up that feel confusing there, or you may need to learn how to set boundaries and stand up for yourself in that part of your life.

Aside from the retrogrades ending in early April, the next major transit to occur will be the full moon in Libra on April 12, taking place at 23 degrees of this sign. The date of this full moon is very interesting, because April 12 is the same day that Venus stations direct, and Venus rules this Libra full moon. So this full moon may be felt in a very loud way, and you could notice a sudden realization or a sudden surge of activity going on in both of the Pisces and Libra ruled houses of your chart. The topics of these houses may even be linked or influence each other in some way. This full moon will also be closely aspecting both Chiron in Aries and Mars in Cancer, so it could serve to push you forward, and new developments in your life may start to move at a faster pace. On the other hand, this full moon may bring up some difficult emotions or insecurities that are buried, or you could feel a bit irritated or reactive.

On April 16, Mercury moves back into Aries, immediately meeting up with Neptune there. So this bump from Mercury may really bring out the qualities of Neptune now activating a new house of your chart. Also, Mercury will be retracing the steps it took in March, and you may now have a new perspective and way forward with the topics of this house. You may also have a renewed motivation to learn, research, or communicate better in this area of your life.

Finally, we wrap up Aries season with Mars moving into Leo on April 18. After spending almost four months in Cancer at the start of this year, Mars will finally be directing its energy towards something new. We can’t forget though that Mars was in Leo at the start of its retrograde and throughout November and December of 2024, so if there was anything you were confused or frustrated about at the end of last year may feel so much better now, like everything is coming full circle. Mars moving into Leo will also have you feeling more playful, creative and social, and you could be finding new ways to express yourself, whether that’s through work, a hobby, or your personal style.

Now let’s go over what all of these transits mean for your individual rising sign…
