I feel like I just sent out horoscopes, which I did, so if you missed the 2025 year ahead forecast, make sure to check that out. Now that we’ve taken a look at the more macro themes that you’ll be encountering over the next year, let’s zoom in on Capricorn season specifically, so you can know what to anticipate this coming month. I see the next few weeks as a slower period, especially because Mars is still very much retrograde. You might be reflecting on your next steps and the goals you want to set for yourself, but you will probably be waiting to fully act on these ideas. Let’s first go into the relevant transits happening this Capricorn season before I go over what everything means for each rising sign.

Capricorn season starts on December 21 and lasts until January 19. General themes to keep in mind with the sun transiting through this sign will be a desire to have greater stability and know what you want to be working towards. There is a reason New Year’s Eve goal setting occurs during this time of year, because you’re wanting to think strategically about your long term future. You might be reflecting on who and what is committing to, or there might be elements of yourself that want to improve upon.

We will get a new moon on December 30 at 9 degrees of Capricorn , so it’s nice that we’ll start the brand new calendar year off with this new moon energy. The new moon acts as a reset for the month, so around this December 30 date you might be spending more time alone and recharging as you figure out all of the themes we just went over. In the days following December 30, you will notice new opportunities, mindsets, habits, and relationships begin to take shape. The ruling planet of this new moon is Saturn, which the new moon will be sextiling. I see this as very positive, supportive energy, and it may give you the focus and determination you need to start working towards something new.

To backtrack a bit, on the 26th and 27th of December, Mercury in Sagittarius is moving forward again to oppose Jupiter in Gemini and square Saturn in Pisces for the third time over the past several weeks. If you had been stumped or confused about a communication based project, or plans to move ahead with a new opportunity had been stalled earlier on in December, you could be gaining greater traction there again. You may want to spend these couple of days doing something productive and finding ways to channel your thoughts into writing, reading, research or an educational activity.

Jumping forward again, throughout the first couple days of January, mainly from the 1st to the 3rd, Mars retrograde in Leo will oppose Pluto in Aquarius. This could bring up extreme emotions or reactions to people, or you may find that you’re quick to get angry or irritated. On a more positive note, you may feel like you’re in the process of cutting ties with old patterns that are no longer serving you in the Leo and Aquarius ruled houses of your chart, and a bigger transformation may be unfolding there.

A few days later, Mars will head back into Cancer on January 6, where it will continue its retrograde until the end of February. Mars still remain in Cancer until April 18, so this is a transit that will define your whole first part of 2025. I went over this transit in the year ahead forecast, but to reiterate, you may currently feel frustrated by how things are moving slow and aren’t really changing in the Cancer ruled house of your chart. There may also be some tension there, or you’re in the process of reworking some of the themes represented by that house. You may reach a turning point in this part of your life around January 15 though, as the Sun in Capricorn opposes Mars in Cancer. Also themes that were relevant for you back in September and October will be resurfacing, and you may be taking a closer look at those areas and want to put more energy into them.

Also happening the first week of January is that on the 2nd, Venus will move into Pisces until early February. This is a great sign for Venus to be in, because it can fully flourish and express its significations of love, compassion and creativity. You may feel more artistically inspired or just connected to people in a deeper way. On January 18, Venus will conjoin Saturn in Pisces, which may bring up the topic of commitment in relationships, or you could be getting clear on who adds value to your life. The Pisces ruled house of your chart will be extra emphasized around this time, and positive opportunities may surface, but they could also be opportunities that require a lot of focus and effort.

On January 8, Mercury finally departs Sagittarius and moves into Capricorn where it will be until January 28. This is a big deal, because Mercury has been in Sagittarius since early November. So a lot of your thoughts have been focused towards that Sagittarius ruled house of your chart, and now your attention will finally be directed elsewhere. I see this transit as great for being more productive and focusing on self improvement, and again your thoughts may be centered around your long term goals.

Another major transit that I went over in the year ahead forecast is that the North and South Nodes are moving out of Aries and Libra and into Pisces and Virgo on January 11. They will be transiting through these two signs until July 2026. Nodal transits signal the signs in which eclipses are occurring. We had a first Pisces eclipse in September 2024, but with the nodes now fully transitioning into Pisces/Virgo, we will be in the Pisces/Virgo eclipse cycle for the next two years. Obviously, people who have these two signs prominently in their chart will be going through the biggest life changes during that period, but it’s also important to look at what houses in your chart the nodes are activating. The North Node through the Pisces ruled house shows what you will be working to develop and where you will be pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, while the South Node through the Virgo ruled house in your chart indicates where you may need to release beliefs holding you back or overcome past patterning. You will be striking a balance between these two parts of your chart throughout 2025 and 2026.

And finally, our second lunation of the month will be a full moon in Cancer on January 13, happening at 23 degrees. A Cancer full moon is already a more emotionally sensitive time, but this one will be closely conjunct Mars retrograde in Cancer, so it may make you a bit emotionally reactive, or you could notice other people are getting very heated and worked up. This could also be a time where you’re putting a lot of energy into home related activities, but there may be some tension with family members or something involving your living space. Maybe try to give yourself space to rest, and try not to react to people immediately.

With that being said, let’s get into what all of this means for each rising sign….
