I hope you’re all having a nice week!

In a past newsletter, we went over the basics of interpreting annual profections, which is a timing technique that helps you to spot year long themes, from one birthday to the next. In addition to my newsletter on solar returns, my guide to annual profections has been one of my most read newsletters to date, so today I want to return to this very topic. Specifically, we will be zooming in on your planetary lord for the year. Not only will we look at the planet that rules your year in terms of annual profections, but we will also examine its natal placement and how it shows up in both solar return and transit charts. Activations to the lord of the year have proven to be eerily accurate when timing events.

Also, to really help cement this knowledge, I will be hosting my next monthly workshop for paid subscribers on Sunday, October 19 at 2pm EST. This month’s interactive workshop will be on annual profections. We will first be reviewing the basics of this technique, but then I want to go a bit more micro and have fun with both monthly and continual profections. I also can’t wait to hear how certain annual perfection years have played out for you. Like usual, this will be an hour and a half long workshop, and a replay will be sent out afterwards for anyone who can’t make it. I will send further details on the workshop next week, but if you’re interested in attending make sure to mark your calendar for the 19th!

Identifying the Planetary Lord

As a refresher, let’s first pull up your annual profections chart and go over how to identify your planetary lord. You will want to click on this link, where you can input your birth information. Keep everything else on that page as is, as it will automatically show you what annual profection year you’re currently in once you hit the “calculate profections” button.

You will then see a chart like the one above, where one specific house is highlighted. Your current age should be listed within the rings of that highlighted house. Based on what annual profection year you’re currently in, you have a sign ruling that house, as well as a planet which rules that specific sign. For instance, in the diagram above, you can see that I am in a 9th house year, and because I’m a Leo rising, the 9th house is ruled by Aries, and Mars serves as the ruling planet of that house. The symbols for both Aries and Mars can be seen in the highlighted house.

That ruling planet of whatever house is highlighted for you becomes your lord of the year and will carry a special significance for a twelve month period, from birthday to birthday. On the date of your next birthday, you will then switch to the next sign, house and planet over. Throughout the rest of this newsletter, we will be going over different ways in which you can look at your planetary lord of the year to see what themes will be especially relevant. We will also look at how to track the planetary lord throughout the year to figure out more exact timing of your annual profection year topics.

If you haven’t done so already, locate what planet is associated with your current annual profection year. Keep that planet in mind as we go through the rest of the steps below.
