Happy eclipse week everyone!
Change in the air this month, so before we get into our main topic for the day, I have a couple of exciting announcements.
One is that my podcast, Astrology with Alice, is officially back wherever you listen to podcasts, as well as on Youtube! Episodes will air every other Thursday (Jupiter’s day of the week felt more right with the new format focused on teaching), plus a monthly forecast episode will be released on the first day of each new zodiac season. This week’s episode is all about eclipses and how you can interpret them in relation to your own chart. And if you want a more visual experience when listening, definitely head over to Youtube, because chart diagrams pop up as I talk.
And secondly, on September 14 at 2pm EST, I will be hosting the next workshop over Zoom for paid subscribers. We had such a good turn out for last month’s workshop, which is still available to watch here, so I’m excited to continue this new membership perk. This month’s workshop will cover lunar return charts and tips for interpreting them. I’ll send out another reminder and further details about what will be covered in the workshop next week, but if you’re interested in attending, mark your calendar for that date and time.
Now on to our main topic…
I have been talking a lot about transits and forecasting recently, so for this week, I want to return to your birth chart and go deeper in learning about a specific placement - the Part of Fortune. It’s only been over the last couple of years that I’ve realized just how important this sensitive point in your chart is. So today, we will be going over what the part of fortune represents, themes by house in which the part of fortune falls in your chart, the lord of fortune, and a few other fun techniques you can use with it.
What does the Part of Fortune represent?
The part of fortune is not a planet, but rather a mathematical point that is calculated based on the distance between the sun and moon in your chart. Depending on what house and sign the part of fortune falls in your chart shows where you may encounter extra fortunate circumstances. Luck may randomly come your way in that area of your life, or you’re more likely to receive support or have things randomly work out in your favor. The part of fortune also speaks to where you may prosper in life or acquire material possessions. In addition, the part of fortune is associated with your physical body, so it can be thought of as what you, as a soul in a body, is working to acquire in this life.
To calculate the part of fortune, you need to first know if you are a day or a night chart. If you are born during the day, meaning the sun is above the ascendant/descendant axis, then you are noting how many degrees are between your sun and moon, starting from the sun and moving forward in zodiacal order to the moon. That degree amount is projected from the ascendant. See the diagram below.
